The government has started procuring moong from farmers at minimum support price or MSP. Its aim is to provide more opportunities to farmers and promote crop diversification. According to the government, moong yield is expected to be five quintals per acre. Farmers have been able to harvest more than five quintals of moong. The government has started procuring moong at the MSP of Rs 7,275 per quintal.
The Maharashtra government has declared Marked and Cooperative Societies as state nodal agencies for procuring the crop. The government has notified 40 mandis to procure moong.
