Users may be stuck with the Face ID function for a long time, since Apple has no plans to bring back Touch ID for iPhone 15 series coming out next year worldwide. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has updated his prediction that Apple would not include Touch ID in the power button or beneath the display.
Apple has been rumoured to give two biometric alternatives for iPhone customers for some years now, and every year there are claims that the corporation is testing this feature. Face ID will be required to unlock your iPhone and make in-app purchases on all future iPhone models, and Apple seems unlikely to reverse this trend.
According to Gurman, “at this point, I think Face ID is here to stay and Touch ID will not be coming to flagship iPhones—at least anytime in the near future.”
When Apple introduced the iPhone X with its large screen profile and notch, it also did away with the hardware Touch ID. It was also our first experience with the firm’s Face ID security feature, which the company claims is both failsafe and very difficult to hack.
Additionally, Apple has released an upgrade to Face ID that can now recognise users even when they are wearing masks. Touch ID is still available on the iPhone SE, and the 2018 model has the physical device despite its archaic appearance.
But many iPhone fans were hoping Apple will include a fingerprint scanner in the screen of its premium devices. Recently released Android smartphones have included a fingerprint sensor in either the power button or beneath the screen, in addition to a software-based face unlock capability.
Apple seems to be taking a different tack here, and the incorporation of a “dynamic island notch” suggests the firm may have good reason to do so.
