The Xiaomi 12 is an upcoming smartphone from the Chinese company Xiaomi. Unlike its forerunner, the Mi 11, the rumoured device will have a full HD+ screen. Recent reports suggest that the Xiaomi 12 will include the as-yet-unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and 100W fast charging.
The Xiaomi 12 was expected to be a strong competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy S22, but it turns out to be less impressive. Rather, it’s a message from the quickly expanding Chinese manufacturer to its staunch Korean competitor, along the lines of “this is how you produce a small-form flagship phone.”
Among the amusing photography features available on Xiaomi devices is “Sky editing,” which digitally replaces the sky in shots, and “macro,” which takes excellent close-ups. A telephoto lens for zoom photography, however, is noticeably absent, and this may be considered a major flaw. Because of this, the camera app can only provide digital zoom or “cropping” zoom, neither of which are really useful.
Xiaomi’s MIUI, which is built on top of Android, continues to be a contentious feature of the Xiaomi 12. While it has a wide variety of personalization options and security protections, it also has a few annoying features and bugs. For example, we discovered that apps would frequently close without our input, that gesture navigation was surprisingly sensitive, and that a security scan performed whenever a new app was installed always showed an overlay on top of whatever you were doing.
The main sensor of the Xiaomi 12’s triple camera system is said to be 50 megapixels. In spite of rumours that the Xiaomi 12 smartphone will debut in early December, the company has not yet provided details on the device’s hardware.
